Word of the Day: Hachimaki
Where We’ve Seen It: Hanging out on tennis player **Rafael Nadal’**s sweaty brow.
Origin: It’s no surprise we mentioned that tennis player Nadal looks like he is suiting up for battle on the court—especially in the way he wears his headband, hachimaki-style. So what exactly is a “hachimaki”? The tie-back, broad-brow bandana was traditional Japanese headwear worn by samurai to absorb sweat and keep their helmets in place—most likely sans the Nike logo worn by Nadal.
