7 Things to Know About Fendi’s Couture Show in Rome

Karl Lagerfeld has landed in Rome. The designer is in the Italian capital to present Fendi’s new haute couture collection, which marks the 90th anniversary of the Roman house. Both Lagerfeld and Fendi are celebrating the milestone with a no-holds-barred approach to the collection and event. Top models have been flown out, editors invited from around the globe, and a location no less iconic than the Trevi Fountain has been secured as the backdrop for Lagerfeld s elaborate and luxe collection. 1. Fendi chartered planes to transport guests from the couture shows in Paris to Rome. Sounds simple enough, except unlike other international flights, this one appears to be all first class.

2. In the days before the show, Lagerfeld photographed his perennial muse, Kendall Jenner, in front of Rome’s Trevi Fountain wearing a number of couture looks.

3. The brand also set up a trippy installation of its bag bugs—read: furry bag charms—that guests enjoyed Instagramming from in the hours before the show.

5. The famous Trevi Fountain also served as the backdrop of the entire couture show, with its pool covered by a glass runway so models could walk on top of the water.

4. Jenner opened the show in a blue gray astrakhan coat with a full swing skirt.

5. The official show hashtag was #legendsandfairytales, and a certain enchanted spirit ran through the collection. There were bell sleeves, empire waists, floral details, and plenty of whisper-thin lacy dresses, most of which were adorned with fur details.

6. Hair stylist Sam McKnight curled models’ hair into tight ringlets that he tied half-up with a variety of pastel ribbons.

7. Aside from Jenner, a number of other top models walked in the show including Bella Hadid, Ruth Bell, Mica Arganaraz, Yasmin Wijnaldum, and Molly Bair.
