Melania Trump is in Japan for the President’s 12-day tour of Asia. After a quick stop in Hawaii — where Mrs. Trump donned a simple white shift dress from Christian Dior punctuated by a thin leather belt — the First Lady began her journey to the Far East with a bolder choice, trying on the new London-based label Borgo de Nor. That dress featured an oversize leaf motif with tropical undertones and was finished with a thick band in light pink that gave the piece some retro sophistication.

Arriving in Tokyo, Trump made a strong first impression. Her nubby Fendi coat (worn over an Hervé Pierre leather pencil skirt) was a ladylike and directional look for the First Lady s meeting with her Japanese counterpart, Mrs. Abe. The two women visited the esteemed Japanese jewelry house Mikimoto. That evening, Trump again stuck with a coatdress silhouette in a custom Hervé Pierre tuxedo dress finished with her signature Manolo Blahnik stilettos for dinner with the Abes at the restaurant Ukai-Tei in Ginza.

The demure look was repeated earlier today when Mrs. Trump met with Emperor Akhito and Empress Michiko at the Imperial Palace. The First Lady wore a caped midnight blue Dior dress, grounded by coordinating ombré effect Manolo Blahnik stilettos. For Trump’s final appearance of the day, she sported a cardinal red Valentino dress and tonally coordinated Manolo Blahnik stilettos to a state dinner hosted by the Prime Minister.
