Maybe because it’s raining in England in August and because I’m too pregnant to travel, but I’m struggling with a serious case of FOMO right now. Alas, the sharp pangs of jealousy and avarice are nothing new for me; what is new, however, is to whom these feelings are directed. Instead of being envious of my friends as they frolic around sun-soaked islands, sipping on cocktails and relishing in their relative lack of responsibility, I’m envious of Gigi Hadid and her wholesome, Instagrammable life. In fact, I’m even jealous of her and former One Directioner Zayn Malik’s daughter, Khai.

Putting down roots in the idyllic American countryside for the holidays, Gigi and her daughter are living their best lives. Taking to Instagram, the supermodel posted a series of candid images that show her and her daughter playing outside, feeding horses, picking flowers, eating blueberries, going on low-key boat rides, dressing up in princess dresses and purple gingham wellies, and dining on pancakes. Oh, to be young and carefree. And I’m not the only one who thinks that: “It’s Khai’s world,” writes Gigi’s stylist Mimi Cuttrell in a comment. “The life,” exclaims Kylie Jenner.
Amid the onslaught of images of celebrities on big, fat yachts or at the openings of super clubs in Ibiza, it’s refreshing to see something a little more relatable and low-fi, something that doesn’t quadruple the world’s carbon footprint; snapshots of wholesome family life, the beauty of nature and the charm of a well-dressed three-year-old. More of this please, Gigi.
