Gigi Hadid brought serious style to her younger sister Bella’s birthday celebrations last night in New York City. While Bella channeled Italian screen goddess Sophia Loren in a sultry cocktail frock from Dolce Gabbana, Gigi took a different route and shed her Millennial Barbie image in head-to-toe baby blue. The look offered a fresh twist on two on-trend silhouettes—suiting and the corset—and took the concept of monochrome dressing to the extreme.
Hadid’s tailored trouser suit was custom designed by Pamella Roland and the model s stylist Mimi Cutrell, and paired a sheer, cropped take on the structured waist-cincher with elongated boot-cut trousers. It’s the latest experiment in modern tailoring for the model, who sported a range of clever cuts, from a Brandon Maxwell maxi shirtdress to haute sweats by Christian Dada, during fashion month. Rounding out the rest of last night s tone-on-tone look were a Tyler Ellis micro box clutch, which read as a ladylike play on the mannish briefcase, and custom-dyed Stuart Weitzman satin heels—a matchy-matchy throwback to a staple of prom-night style from around the time Hadid was born.
