With the temperatures finally dropping and the changing leaves, it’s high time to perfect your autumn wardrobe. Who better to ask for styling advice than a supermodel? This week, Vogue caught up with Gisele Bündchen to ask the Brazilian star about her fall staples and favorite denim styles. She’s a perfect fit for the task, given she’s the new face for the Californian fashion brand Frame’s new fall collection, which includes tons of jeans.
Shot by David Sims, Bündchen stars in a new series of photographs modeling Frame’s new denim jackets and jeans, knitwear, and coats—basically, all the wardrobe heroes you’ll be heavily leaning on for fall. So, below, Vogue caught up with the model to ask about what she’s wearing on repeat this season, which denim silhouette she’s a fan of—is she a skinny or baggy jean girl?—and if there’s any trends she’s dying to experiment with. (Spoiler alert: Yes, there is—and it’s a major trend from the ’90s, no less). Read on to find out all about it.
Vogue: Hi! You star in Frame’s new campaign. What do you admire about the brand and its clothes?
Bündchen: I love that Frame fits my lifestyle, no matter the occasion. The designs feel like they were made for me. I have always loved the jeans because, with my long legs, finding pants is sometimes a challenge.
What were your favorite pieces in the new fall collection?
There are so many incredible pieces this season. Of course, the oversized jacket that I wore for fashion week [Editor’s note: Don t miss her fabulous pantless look]. It was a nod back to the ’80s when oversized denim jackets were a staple. Another one of my favorites is the silk champagne blouse, and all of the jeans fit so good.
Are you a big denim wearer in general?
I am a denim super fan. Most days I wear jeans, in all different styles or cutoffs.
What’s your go to-go denim silhouette?
I select my jeans based on my mood. I love the versatility of jeans. I pair them with a white tank or tee, or dress them up with a silk blouse. If it is chilly, there’s nothing better than [with] an oversized sweater. The great thing about jeans is anything goes.
What else will you be wearing this fall? What are your go-to items for the season?
I am loving corduroys and cashmere sweaters. Of course, my favorite is the oversized denim jacket from fashion week. But I live in Miami, so coats are not such a big part of my wardrobe these days.
Are there any other trends or new looks you re curious about trying this fall?
Loving that slip dresses are back: They are perfect for Miami. And I will definitely be wearing the Frame denim jumpsuit!
