This just in: There’s a new cat-eye in town—and it comes in Givenchy brown. “Riccardo [Tisci] wanted a structured eye, very rock ’n’ roll, very rebellious, but he didn’t want it in black,” explained makeup artist Pat McGrath backstage at tonight’s Fall 2016 show. Instead, the designer had requested a muted wing in a softer shade of mink. After trying out several shapes, including a geometric tick and a slender wedge, she settled on a dramatic swoosh of taupe brown pigment that was shaded upward toward the temples and winked at the collection’s Egyptian Eye of Horus details. Worn with fresh skin, bleached brows, head-to-toe black, and bad girl attitude by models like Bella Hadid, “it’s the new punk,” said McGrath definitively. You heard it here first.
