Ever wonder how a star prepares for one of their fan-filled concerts? Vogue got the answer earlier this month, when we spent an entire day with singer Gracie Abrams ahead of her performance at one of three sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. “There’s something unbelievably iconic about Radio City Music Hall, and to look out and see it full,” Abrams told Vogue. “This has been my favorite view of the whole tour. It’s pretty magical.”

Kickstarting the busy day with a mandatory matcha, Vogue met Abrams bright and early the morning of October 14 before heading to the venue together. Inside Radio City Music Hall, her first order of business was to sign some vinyls of her album The Secret Of Us (a deluxe version of the record is releasing in January, by the way, with some brand new tracks on it). “These songs I deeply love, and I’m very proud of,” says Abrams. “All of them were recorded at Electric Lady Studios.”

Next up was the customary sound check with her band. “Pre-show, the most important thing that I do are vocal warm-ups,” says Abrams, who jammed out to a few songs with her band. At this point in her career, she says, touring and all of its idiosyncrasies is a lifestyle. “Since starting touring a few years ago, that’s how I mark time now, instead of months or seasons,” she says.

With the countdown to her show ticking down, Abrams headed to her dressing room for a quick fitting with stylist Spencer Singer. The duo ended up choosing an elegant Chanel dress featuring a plunging neckline and seersucker, floral, and sequin detailing. “I like to wear whatever makes me feel the most in my skin,” says Abrams, who is a new brand ambassador for Chanel Coco Crush. “I like feeling like I can move and breathe. The look for tonight is glamorous; [We wanted] something that would shine in the light at Radio City.” Post-glam, it was then finally time to hit the stage—where Abrams performed hits such as “Close To You” and “I Love You, I’m Sorry” to crowds of adoring fans.
