Alessandro Michele presented his Fall 2016’s men’s collection this morning in Milan. Set to music from this year’s Oscar-nominated film The Revenant, Michele sent out more than 50, layered, Lurex, and accessorized-to-a-T looks. Here, the 10 talking points from the collection.
1. Gucci returned to the abandoned train station at in Milan to stage the show. The interior was transformed into an entirely crimson environment, complete with smoke filling the runway.
2. Alessandro Michele’s love of animals also includes creatures of the cartoon variety. Snoopy and Woodstock from the Peanuts appeared printed on the front of tops.
3. Gucci’s popular kangaroo fur-lined loafers turned up on the runway in a new plaid pattern.
4. A Gucci show comes with a guarantee that models will be wearing fistfuls of rings, but this season also saw the inclusion of thin black chokers on several male models.
5. The house paid homage to David Bowie with a black cardigan with “Bowie” written across the back, accompanied by animal embroidery and a large red heart.
6. Exaggerated bowler hats topped off several of the looks . . .
7. . . . though the animal-inspired chullo hats, complete with ears, will be a favorite in winter months.
8. As with every Gucci show, models of the opposite gender walked. This season, there were a slew of ladies with electric pink blush, teetering down the runway in the platform shoes shown during the women’s Spring 2016 collection.
9. Hari Nef, who had taken over Gucci’s Snapchat account leading up to the show, walked in a full red ensemble comprised of heeled loafers, trousers, an oversized cape, a rounded hat, and glasses.
10. In addition to metallic and embroidered Dionysus bags and totes, Gucci sent out a selection of its monogram luggage on the runway.
