U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced this week that Harriet Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. Initially, the redesign was planned for the $10 bill, but after considerable back and forth, and a visit with Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Treasury Department decided to replace Jackson with Tubman on the front of the $20 bill. (The slaveholding president will remain on the back of the bill.) Though the announcement came with considerable backlash, many took to social media to praise the Treasury Department’s decision.
