If there’s one thing I love in this world, it’s a person who’s comfortable throwing a giant birthday party for themselves. (When I’ve tried to do this in the past, it’s almost always resulted in me panicking and texting everyone not to come two nights before.) That’s why, when I heard that Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney held a giant ’80s-prom-themed birthday in her own honor, I became even more obsessed with her:

To merely order a few pizzas and arrange some candles on a cake is one thing, but to throw a fully themed birthday that requires forethought and careful planning and consideration? That right there is true Virgo energy, and I respect it. Obviously, the bash had brand sponsorship from Revolve—this is a celebrity event we’re talking about—but what gets me the most is Sweeney’s complete commitment the ’80s vibe, from her hairspray-ed cloud of blonde locks to the photos she took with her friends lined up on a suitably suburban-looking stairwell. (Seriously, those pictures look so legitimately prom-like that I half expected to see Sweeney’s parents just out of frame with a video camera.)
Anitta, Dylan Mulvaney, Camila Mendes, and Nicola Peltz Beckham were all in attendance at the pink-heavy, disco-ball-studded event, making it clear that it’s never too late to live through the ’80s—whether it’s in real time or at a famous actress’s birthday. I have, personally, never been to a famous actress’s birthday (rude of them to not invite me!), but I applaud the effort nonetheless.
