Riccardo Tisci presented his Spring 2017 menswear and Fall 2016 Haute Couture collections for Givenchy in Paris today, drawing guests to the 16th Arrondissement for the dual shows. Once there, attendees were treated to a slight delay—okay, an hour—with the show finally kicking off to the sounds of Son Lux’s “Your Day Will Come.” The wait for Alexander Fury’s full review of the collection will be a bit longer, too—in the meantime, familiarize yourself with nine memorable moments here.
1. The show was held in the courtyard of Paris’s Lycée Janson de Sailly, with guests seated on alternating black and white cubes.
2. The show invitation featured a Guy Bourdin photo with SS17 scrawled over it in shocking-pink graffiti.
3. Among the celebrities in attendance were Dwyane Wade, Amanda Seyfried, and Angelababy.
4. The menswear looks touched on themes begun in Tisci’s Resort 2017 collection: optic patterns, streetwear, and the interplay of olive green and bright red.
5. The collection was rife with pyramid imagery and prints inspired by American currency. You know what Beyoncé, ever the Givenchy fan, says: “Y’all haters corny with that Illuminati mess.”
6. A checkerboard motif ran through the men’s collection, appearing as trim on jackets, shirts, and sneakers.
7. Tisci also showed a selection of Fall 2016 couture looks for women in black and white with soft ruffles and Fortuny-esque pleats.
8. Many of Tisci’s longtime muses walked in the show, including Mariacarla Boscono, Joan Smalls, and Lea T. Natalia Vodianova, who just gave birth to her son, Roman, on June 8, opened the couture section in a white dress.
9. Insta-girls and Tisci faves Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner also walked in the show, both in elaborately beaded couture looks.
