7 Things to Know About Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2017 Men’s Show

Kim Jones took guests on a highbrow safari for his Spring 2017 men’s collection for Louis Vuitton this morning. Inspired by trips to Africa and the artistic director’s own punk phase, the collection was a remix of classic LV essentials—the bomber jacket, the travel bag, the luxury knit—with new textures and colors. While you wait for Alexander Fury’s review, get the talking points of the show here.

1. The show was held en plain air in the Palais Royal in Paris, where models walked between square seating arrangements of editors and guests.

3. Inspired by Africa with cuts of punk interspersed for good British measure, Jones riffed on animal prints, woven leather textures, and Louis Vuitton’s monogram in ivory and black in his collection. According to show notes, the designer’s African inspirations mark not only a sense of travel but also a return to one’s roots.
