Jennifer Lopez is leading the way on this front. Her longtime nail artist, Tom Bachik, posted a photograph of the star sporting a “sweater weather” manicure on his Instagram feed this week: A light shade of cloud grey painted onto squoval-shaped nails. Lopez paired the unexpected shade with a woven jacket and diamond jewelry, including her impressive engagement ring.
Grey can be a tricky color to pull off, but as Lopez proves, when done right, it looks super chic. Bachik used Aprés Nail’s nail polish in Sweater Weather to create the look, and ensured a perfectly glossy finish (key to making the shade work) by adding a clear top coat.

Bachik is making (nearly) 50 shades of grey happen right now. He also created a chrome silver look for Charlize Theron ahead of Dior’s spring/summer 2024 show this week: “Everyone and their mama wants these nails!” wrote Theron in response to his post. Lily James also recently showed off a slate-grey hue on her fingertips at London Fashion Week.
