Wearing a suit doesn’t exactly make me feel cool. Polished and professional, yes, but cutting-edge? Hardly. Whenever I wear a suit, I feel like I’m either about to lead a PowerPoint presentation or head to a wedding. But Jaden Smith just stepped out in an unexpected take on suiting up that gives it new life—and it’s inspiring me to think of the combo as more of a statement look.
Yesterday, Smith made an appearance at British Vogue and Tiffany Co.’s party during London Fashion Week, celebrating fashion and film. He wore an undeniably cool, graphic suit by MSFTSrep—Smith’s clothing line that he co-founded with his sister, Willow Smith, in 2015. First of all, it’s printed all over with a swirly, abstract design. The tuxedo jacket is also cropped, and the pants have a built-in skirt overlay. The star even nailed the smaller details too, like piling mounds of chains and charms over his tie. His steel-toe boots and printed bag also made it feel youthful.
Now, the star is no stranger to making fashion statements, but there’s something about Smith’s take on a suiting that’s particularly inspiring me for the fall season. Next up on my shopping list will be a printed suit and a crisp black tie. Like Smith, it’ll be my new going-out look—or my next boardroom serve.
