Jaden Smith’s time, at least to the general public, seems to be spent waxing philosophical on Twitter, lugging around gallon jugs of water, carrying his freshly cut dreadlocks as an accessory, or even making the fanny pack a surprising red carpet staple. But the 19-year-old wunderkind has actually been quietly working behind the scenes on his debut album for the past three years, which he finally released late last night.
Following Syre’s midnight release, Smith’s now dropped a fresh new video for “Icon,” which features predictably outlandish garments from the young fashion plate. Wearing massive gold chains stacked around his neck, a MSFTS frayed denim jacket (Jaden s own gender-neutral line) layered over a taupe workwear vest, and patchwork G-Star jeans that look perfectly tattered, Smith dances in front of a black car as the sun sets over a mountainous vista. So while Smith may be entering uncharted territory with this full-length release, his video for “Icon,” which you can watch above, proves that he’s as interested in eccentric style as ever.
