When Kaia Gerber opened Chanel’s Spring 2018 show in Paris back in October, she stepped onto the runway wearing one of the season’s trickiest trends: clear PVC boots that displayed a flash of skin, a look fit for an editorial. Fast forward three months and Gerber is tackling the shoe yet again, but in a manner better suited for reality. Heading out last night to the Hong Kong opening of Chanel’s Mademoiselle Privé exhibit, the model wore the shorter version of the boot with a cream mini-dress. By leaving the branded rain gear that dominated the collection at home, Gerber kept things simple, elegant, and age-appropriate.

Opting for a shorter boot with a higher heel, Gerber took some of the guess work out of an unwieldy style and drew attention to the intricate lace and sequin details of her dress. By keeping everything from her center-parted hair to her makeup simple, it allowed for the beauty of her Lagerfeld-designed pieces to shine, creating a winning look from head to toe.
