Since becoming a working royal more than a decade ago, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has assembled a reliable uniform for her official engagements, from Catherine Walker coat dresses for formal occasions to a blazer and skinny jeans for sports events.
While in her early years as a royal she leaned on floral dresses, now her go-to outfit is a minimal tailored suit, a white T-shirt and a pair of pointed court shoes, with the royal wearing the outfit formula three times in the past week. In many ways it’s the ideal business-ready look for a modern day princess – it’s polished and formal, but the top underneath makes it look more relatable and relaxed than formal officewear.
Despite the Prince of Wales currently being in New York, Kate has stayed in London and today visited a charity in Aldgate, east London. Her suiting by Roland Mouret has a distinctly autumn feel, with the royal opting for a creamy latte color which is one of the dominant shades for fall 2023. The silhouette also makes the look feel modern, thanks to the high waistband and flared trouser leg which just skims the floor.
Again, Kate styled the suit with her trusted white T-Shirt, but wore a pair of caramel Gianvito Rossi pumps which perfectly matched the suit. “Coffee order” dressing is becoming a thing this autumn, as shown by the Vogue editors’ favorite “cortado rule”. Kate, though, is dressing like an oat-milk latte this September.
