The Princess of Wales rarely strays away from her tried-and-tested wardrobe, particularly when it comes to high-profile engagements—and it was the case again today, as she and Prince William greeted German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender at London’s Heathrow Airport this morning.
For the occasion, Kate re-wore a blue Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton coat—a style she previously wore on Christmas Day in 2023—which she teamed with a navy dress by Burberry, matching suede boots and a hat by Juliette Botterill. Finishing the look? Heirloom jewelry in the form of Princess Diana’s double-drop sapphire and diamond earring and the Prince of Wales feather brooch.
Kate has sported the sentimental earrings—which were a wedding gift to Diana from the Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia—on a number of occasions, including the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales brooch also holds special significance: comprising three ostrich feathers and a coronet in the center, it signifies the badge of the Prince of Wales, and was previously worn by both Diana and Queen Camilla.
It’s a busy week for the Princess of Wales, who is expected to attend tonight’s state banquet at Windsor Castle, held in honor of the German president. On Friday, Kate will host her annual Together At Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey, which she has described in a letter to guests as “a moment of collective togetherness, a chance to celebrate the spirit of community and service, and to honour the visible and invisible bonds that unite us all.”
