Francisco Costa presented his Fall 2016 collection for Calvin Klein Collection today at New York Fashion Week. Set inside Spring Studios, the show drew out quite a celebrity crowd—ahem, CL and Kendall Jenner—but the high-wattage stars didn’t outshine Costa’s thoughtful collection. Last season’s slip dresses gave way to soigné daywear and technically rendered prints, while the sneakers he posited for Spring have been reborn as pointed-toe oxfords and, in some cases, an ankle-strap court shoe. While you wait for Nicole Phelps’s review of the collection, catch up on these and more talking points from the show, below.
1. Calvin Klein campaign stars Kendall Jenner, Zoë Kravitz, and Adwoa Aboah sat front row alongside actresses Margot Robbie and Hari Nef.
2. CL continued her New York Fashion Week reign, sitting in the front row in one of Calvin Klein’s Spring 2016 trenches. She also sported a new, pale blue hairstyle to coordinate with her ensemble.
3. Models wore their hair sideswiped into low ponytails with barefaced makeup for a clean glow.
4. Costa continued his photo-print experiments from Pre-Fall, rending animal furs in 2-D patterns on midi shift dresses.
5. Though the show opened with new faces, longtime CK models Ruby Aldridge, Caroline Brasch Nielsen, Suvi Koponen, and Julia Nobis all walked.
6. There were fur collars aplenty on the catwalk, most on belted leather outerwear.
7. Sure, the slip dresses were few this season, but the idea of lingerie dressing continued with models wearing slight camisoles over deconstructed skirts.
8. Plaids continue to dominate the runways this season. Costa opted to mismatch his, showing combinations like check tunics over tartan trousers.
