It’s exactly one week until Carol Lim and Humberto Leon’s Kenzo x H&M collab lands in more than 250 H&M stores around the world, and just over a week since the designers bowled us over with a Jean-Paul Goude–choreographed runway extravaganza, complete with marching band, MCs, and professional dancers.
Today, windows spun from Goude’s irrepressible imagination have gone up in H&M stores around the world, the flagship on Fifth Avenue at 48th Street in New York City included. The idea behind the display, Goude explains, “was to re-create with mannequins one of the first campaigns that I did for Carol and Humberto when they joined Kenzo. Imagine a group of kids dancing all huddled up together in a line, like sardines. It’s an image that comes from a painting of 42nd Street I did back in New York when I was still living there and when that area was still slimy and dangerous.” Let’s just hope the lines aren’t quite so sardine-like when the clothes arrive on November 3.
