Don’t be surprised if you feel the urge to add a dash of vampiric glamour to your wardrobe next year. Lily-Rose Depp and Emma Corrin brought a modern interpretation of 1830s Transylvania to the Los Angeles premiere of Nosferatu, Robert Eggers’s remake of the 1922 film by the same name.
Corrin, styled by Harry Lambert, wore a custom off-the-shoulder Miu Miu dress. The black body-skimming number was mainly sheer—down to the full-length gloves—and was embellished with black paillettes at the neckline. Never one to go for simplicity, Corrin accessorized with an avant garde netted veil that was wrapped around their head and neck like a balaclava, and a Cartier ring worn over their gloved hand.
Depp, for her part, channeled her inner leading lady in a dove-gray evening dress with delicate silver embellishments along the neckline and empire waist, look 85 from Chanel’s fall 1995 couture collection. She brought the drama with the dramatic cape she added on top—a sheer sleeveless overcoat with silver embroidery that tied at the neck.
The actors weren t the only ones who got the sheer memo. Charli XCX hit the red carpet in an asymmetrical black Rodarte dress with black floral velvet burnout and satin panels.
For the post-premiere after-party, Depp shed her top layer, rocking just the gray dress underneath. Corrin, meanwhile, changed into a mid-length dress from Macy Lily Grimshaw—a red ombré boatneck look with trompe l’œil polka-dots and graphic tears.
Thanks to Lily-Rose Depp and Emma Corrin’s vintage Chanel couture and custom Miu Miu, the sheer dressing has now entered the world of the undead, so you can be sure this trend will be around for awhile—or, perhaps, for eternity.
