Given yesterday’s announcement that MAC Cosmetics and Giambattista Valli are collaborating on a lip-color collection for summer 2015, there were plenty of reasons to celebrate the designer and his many creative endeavors last night in Los Angeles. To that end, Amber Heard and John Demsey teamed up with _Vogue’_s own Lisa Love and MAC to host a dinner in honor of Valli at the Chateau Marmont. It’s hard to imagine a girl who hasn’t fallen hard for the Italian-born designer’s ultra-feminine, contemporary designs lately. In fact, the fashion house and designer have garnered such a devoted legion of fans that the nickname “Valli Girls” has been bestowed upon them—so of course, there were many Valli Girls (and guys) on hand to fete the Paris-based designer, fresh off a recent trip to China.
Cody Horn, Olivia Munn, Liberty Ross, Lisa Eisner, Stephen Dorff, Greg Chait, Rachel Zoe, and Caitlin FitzGerald all came out, and many were dressed in the designer’s creations. Heard wore a particularly beautiful sheer floral pink and white look from Valli’s fall 2014 couture show. Just as dinner was served, Demsey remarked to the group that the designer, who he has known for close to fifteen years, has brought a new level of beauty and talent to the many creative worlds he is a part of. Valli himself simply said that he feels as though he is among friends in L.A. “It’s so effortless, so open, so relaxed. It’s very similar to my origins in Rome. It’s sunny and there is no institution—I feel very comfortable and I feel at home.” After dinner, DJ Myles Hendrik started spinning, and guests took to the dance floor.
