Madelyn Cline is eager for round two at the 2024 Met Gala. The 26-year-old actress took to theme with an ethereal look, like something straight out of a fairytale garden—all inspired by J.G. Ballard’s The Garden of Time.
For the occasion, she leaned into a white color palette, “a nod to Greco-statue gardens and the desolate state that the two protagonists in the story evolved into,” complete with a tonal flower and vine design which pays homage to the flower at the center of Ballard s tale. True to Tommy Hilfiger’s codes, her gown featured a collar and buttons—similar to that of a classic Hilfiger polo. Cline says the dress was love at first sight. “Everything from the shirt dress to the floral and vine motif on the skirt felt very romantic and on theme while also staying true to the Tommy Hilfiger brand DNA and my personal style,” she explains.
For glam, she leaned into the ethereal and mysterious vibes of a mystical garden. To achieve this, makeup artist Jen Tioseco kept skin dewy and fresh thanks to Revlon s Illuminance Serum Tint, SkinLights Prismatic Highlighter—warmed up by peachy blush and bronzer. “We wanted to keep the skin super simple, so the eyes were the focal point,” Cline explains. “The pearl white eyeshadow in the inner corners really makes the eyes pop–Jen taught me that trick a few years ago.” Finally, Cline s go-to lip combo—Revlon’s ColorStay Longwear Lip Liner in Nude and Super Lustrous Lipstick in Bare It All—pulled the look together perfectly. Hair was something of a fairytale dream, too. Stylist Marc Mena crafted beautifully luscious waves with Great Lengths tape ins and Maria Nila styling products; the pro describes the look as “a story book—like a garden princess and a fairy.”
With her look perfected, she’s prepared to soak in the entire evening. But not without some positive affirmations, lengthy self-care, and naturally—a glass of champagne. “My first Met Gala was an unforgettable experience and I’m so excited to be back,” she says. “The energy is so incredible that it can be hard to remember to slow down, take a step back, and enjoy the experience. The night just flies by!”
