Assuming you haven’t been living under a rock recently, you’ll be well aware that Margot Robbie is playing Mattel’s famous blonde doll in the Barbie movie. Set to premiere around the world later this month, the press tour has seen her don an array of perfectly pink ensembles—with girly beauty looks to match. From retro ponytails to immaculate bouncy blow dries and all the rosy blushers in between, her glam team has taken inspiration from the—can I say it?—slightly saccharine doll, but made Robbie’s looks modern and rather wearable.
Robbie continued the theme at the Mexican premiere of the film, pairing her hot pink Balmain outfit with glossy lips and a flushed cheek. She also showed off Rapunzel waves—named after another famous childhood heroine, whose enviable long hair was strong enough for a suitor to climb up—with her own lengths styled into perfect curls, courtesy of hairstylist Bryce Scarlett.

Of course, the pair weren’t actually inspired by Rapunzel. They cleverly took inspiration from another vintage Barbie doll. (Many of Margot’s Barbie looks have been inspired by real dolls from days gone by.) While on this occasion they made some minor changes to Robbie’s hair—namely, her half ponytail was left loose and low, plus she doesn’t have a fringe—she is still a dead ringer for the doll.
