This weekend is not only your last chance to view the intricate beaded gowns by Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood’s army-like uniforms, and dreamlike creations from John Galliano on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s exhibition of “China: Through the Looking Glass,” but arguably the most unique way to take it all in, too. On Friday and Saturday nights, the exhibition will remain open until midnight, offering a rare opportunity to tour parts of the museum in the relative calm of night. And might we recommend making an entire evening of it? For a post-tour snack (if you work up an appetite walking the 30,000-square-foot exhibition), the Great Hall Balcony Bar will be open both nights offering a full bar and food—including special lychee martinis and steamed shrimp dumplings—all set to live music from sting quartet Ethel.
The exhibition closes on Labor Day, Monday, September 7.
