Tomorrow, Glastonbury Festival kicks off in Somerset, England, and our friends across the pond have geared up for five days of festival beauty—albeit of a far different sort than what dominated at Coachella two months ago. There’s no better way to illustrate that cultural contrast than with supermodels Kate Moss and Kendall Jenner, who, as a study in opposites, have come to define each festival’s signature look, with its cultural nuances.

First, there’s Kate Moss, who has been tromping around in mud-splattered Hunter Wellies for over a decade. Nowadays, the British icon’s inherently cool style is regularly imitated by the next generation of Glastonbury girls: all tousled second-day waves and foundation-free skin, loose and easy, as though you’ve rolled out of bed and right up to the grounds to play, rain or shine.

Halfway around the world, there s Kendall Jenner, who, fully made-up like a boho dream with shimmering skin, carefully defined arches, and two whimsical knots pinned to the top of her head in years past, has offered up her fair share of all-American inspiration. Evoking the ’70s flower child spirit that Coachella has come to be known for, Jenner’s approach is more playful and costumey—because when you’re roaming through sun-drenched fields of California, why not have a bit of fun with it?

Whichever camp you fall into, at least on one point, all parties agree: A slick set of shades is non-negotiable. Happy frolicking.
