Every season, New York Fashion Week’s vibrant street style scene—often documented by the expert eye of Vogue photographer Phil Oh—acts as a preview of fashion’s biggest up-and-coming trends. Buyers, editors, stylists, writers, and more all hit the streets of the Big Apple to take in the new shows. And when they do, their outfits often incorporate some of the freshest, coolest new pieces on the scene. Last season, for instance, everyone was spotted wearing the neon-bright Martine Rose x Nike sneakers—a wonderfully quirky shoe collab.

With the fall 2024 shows officially kicking off on Friday, consider this week’s show attendees the perfect individuals to draw fashion inspiration from; Their outfits basically predict what’s next in fashion. In honor, Vogue reached out and asked some of them to share what they’ll be wearing this season. Trending staples ranged from luxe Bottega Veneta bags and Miu Miu boots, to more unexpected pieces like Baby Phat gloves (Y2K style isn’t dead yet!), and cozy Collina Strada sweatpants.

Below, dive into what 13 fashion insiders will be wearing to NYFW.

Fashion Market and Editorial Director

The best part about getting dressed for February fashion shows is the opportunity to really experiment with layering. I plan to play around with Kule stripes, Zankov knits, and men s ties non-stop this season.

I m going simple and easy: A leather jacket that I can make suffocatingly Galliano-for-Margiela-style tight, and a pair of Baby Phat gloves.

Honestly, my black Telfar puff pants, because it s cold and they are a working girl s best friend. It keeps me cozy but fashionable!

Fashion Office Coordinator, Saks Fifth Avenue

One of my latest obsessions has been peacoats. For the past few weeks, I have been gravitating towards this style of outerwear, and I imagine it will be my go-to style during NYFW. I will most likely wear my vintage peacoat, but I have also been eyeing this Tory Burch peacoat with a faux fur collar. I think the collar adds something special to this traditional silhouette. I also plan on wearing red nonstop. For me, red is not just a passing trend—it is transitioning into a wardrobe staple. I ve even declared to a few people that red is my new neutral! You will likely see me wearing a red cardigan styled in a myriad of ways: draped like a scarf, worn as a hood, or even transformed into a sarong. The possibilities are truly endless!

This Willie Norris Re-Workshop T-shirt has been in my closet for a few years, and is a tried-and-true favorite that fits perfectly and speaks to how I feel about the great city we live in. I wear it often and love pulling it out for fashion week I also Splurged (with a capital S!) on this tote from Bottega. The straps are just long enough to fit over my shoulder when I wear my coat, but not so long that the bag touches the floor when it s in my hand (these are two bug pet peeves of mine). The size is perfect for all my essentials including a change of clothes for the gym, and on days when I m not going to the gym, it even fits my camera and flash so I don t need a separate camera bag! On top of all of that, it’s just gorgeous.

Faux fur and big sunglasses! I m in my mob wife era.

Global Director, Vogue Runway and Vogue Business

These Mayson the Label elastic waist pinstripe pants are my current favorites. So comfortable! It is a very good day when I pair them with an Extreme Cashmere crewneck

Fashion Director, Vanity Fair

Miu Miu moto boots. They are the perfect boot for running around  to all the shows—comfortable but a major fashion statement. They give any look that needed va-va!

Stylist

I am normally working during the shows, so I have a uniform that works for me. Brings both comfort and joy! My Nike Air Max Plus [sneakers] in tartan, Collina Strada sweatpants, and an oversized sweater from ERL

Head of Content, SSENSE

Despite the urge to dress outrageous 24/7, during fashion week I actually do tend to favor more practical, indestructible garments. A Sacai coat is an absolute must for me—I m sort of ashamed to say I probably have a couple of different black options (including the Sacai Carhartt mega coat), but I find the nylon bomber to the perfect middle ground between functional and fab. Chistose Abe also knows the exact right number of pockets a woman needs (minimum five!) and puts them in every jacket. For that, eternal thanks. Over the holidays I went ham buying new shoes, and I m very excited to take my vintage Balenciaga buckle loafers (the low-top style of the famous buckle boot) for a spin this season. Ditto for Bally s new Mary Janes, the platonic ideal of a Mary Jane to me. Both are technically flats, but have big personalities, which comes in handy during three weeks of nonstop fashion shows.

As someone with a strong aversion to cold weather, winter dressing rarely excites me. I do, however, love Hellessy knits. The textures, embellishments and silhouettes make them such great statement pieces. When you see me in my Bruno Sweater, please, no pictures.

Also, there are a few unseasonably warm days in the forecast, so I ll be swapping my shearling and puffy coats for my beloved LaPointe trench. I have one in leather, and nothing in my wardrobe makes me feel as confident and capable and alive—all the feeling I like to channel during a nonstop week of shows, events and deadlines.

I found a black Random Identities jumpsuit to wear during fashion month—because in PR and production, we wear black to events. It s the easiest, most comfortable piece. It s almost like a two in one—well three, with the belt. Definitely the best onesie I ve ever owned. I also picked up a classic black suit with white shirt because I haven’t worn a suit in a while, and it will be one less thing I have to think about during one of our busiest times of the year.

My current favorite bag is a JW Anderson number from 2018. I found it on The RealReal a year-ish later, and put it away in storage during the pandemic. I sort of forgot about it until this winter, when I realized that I needed a crossbody bag for my ample winter coat, and after scanning every single website looking for something I could buy, I remembered I still had her! She s perfect, and she fits way more inside than meets the eye—perfect for all schlepping around the city from appointment to appointment.

I ll probably be wearing my Gucci Horsebit loafers every day of fashion week. They re versatile, chic, and (most importantly) comfy! My feet are still scarred from last NYFW, so this time around, I ve learned to stick to walkable shoes. I recently bought a Yohji Yamamoto wrap skirt that I can t wait to break out. It s classic, goes with everything, and has stunning pleating details.
