If there’s one beauty trend that’s taking the modeling world by storm, it’s a statement-making hair color. In fact, a directional hue can turn a relative newcomer into the season’s runway girl of the moment. Have doubts? We’re talking about the colorful hair clique, which includes the bubblegum-lacquered locks of Fernanda Ly, a color that created a dip-dye frenzy after she walked the Louis Vuitton Fall 2015 show, and Marga Esquivel’s silver-strewn blunt cut, which made waves at Gucci Resort 2016.
And there’s more: Fashion’s favorite twins, Baylee and Kelsey Soles, may be sisters—but they rep two contrasting runway hue crews. Baylee’s inkwell shade heads up a pack of fellow dark-haired beauties, from Grace Hartzel to Pooja Mor, while Kelsey leads the bleach-blonde camp, which includes Lida Fox and Harmony Boucher. Offering a softer take on golden blonde, Dutch newcomer Frederikke Sofie’s Pre-Raphaelite flaxen curls set the tone for a more delicate (but no less striking) type of beauty.
As for the redheads? Let’s not forget Varya Shutova’s saturated, flame-color tresses, while newcomer Rhiannon McConnell has the strawberry blonde crop to watch.
