When Katie Holmes walks out of the house in a cute outfit, we pay attention. The actor of Dawson’s Creek fame is consistently a top-performing celebrity on Vogue.com, and this week she visited the Vogue closet to talk to Chloe about her latest endeavor: a collaboration with A.P.C. Together with Judith Touitou, A.P.C.’s artistic director, Katie discussed the new collection (out today) and why working on it felt so organic: while she has been wearing the iconic French brand since the 1990s, Judith has admired Katie’s work and style for years.

While the women spoke, a few pieces from the collaboration hung beside them, including a gorgeous green and blue quilt inspired by one Katie’s mother made. Because A.P.C. is a brand that has elegantly captured the essence of “French girl style,” they also ran through some wardrobe essentials; according to Judith, a good trench coat is crucial.

Given how popular Katie’s street-style looks are, there’s no question the launch will get people shopping. Back in 2019, when she was seen out and about in a cashmere bra-and-cardigan set from Khaite, it blew up on social media and sold out almost instantly. Though Katie couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it is about the way she dresses that’s made us all obsessed, she does have an uncanny ability to make an outfit seem simultaneously chic and practical. Besides, as Judith put it, “There’s nothing as sexy as a white tee.”

Also on today’s episode, Nicole Phelps talks about Virginie Viard’s exit from Chanel; and Chloe and Chioma share their outfits of the day—finds from a recent Prada sample sale. It’s been a busy week in New York, what with the Tribeca Film Festival kicking off, an Alexander Wang show in SoHo, and an Hermès show (the invitation to which was a piece of solid metal). At the same time, across the pond Chioma has just returned from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior cruise show at Drummond Castle in Scotland. While the UK isn’t generally known for it’s sunny weather, the clouds parted and sun shone down on the tweed kilts and Highland-inspired designs. Lovely!
