Actress Sophie Turner has often gravitated toward steadfast and fierce women in her work. “I’m always inspired,” she tells The Run-Through over Zoom. “If I have a bad day, I’m like, Bring out your inner Sansa.” She is referring, of course, to Sansa Stark, the steely character she played for many years on the hit series Game of Thrones, but she’s more recently been in character as Joan Hannington for the upcoming series Joan, about the infamous British diamond thief. As much as Sophie draws strength from the women she plays, she also loves the escapist element of acting—the relief that comes from performing an identity so outside of her own world.

It makes sense that Sophie, British Vogue’s June cover star, would occasionally want to break away from reality: between her divorce filings, custody battles, and overtly sexist mom-shaming from the press and the peanut gallery, the past year has been a difficult one. But rather than hide out from it all, Sophie has handled the ordeal with poise, looking steadily ahead to her future with her daughters.

In addition to acting, Sophie is also a Louis Vuitton ambassador—and a good friend of Nicolas’s—so she and Chioma chat about their favorite LV shows, and the fact that the ambassadors have a star-studded WhatsApp group chat. Being in the LV orbit has heightened Sophie’s sense of style, and lately, she’s become a bit of a Depop fiend, but on the whole she is focused on comfort. Summer Sophie is just trying to stay comfortable and avoid sweat stains.

Earlier on the show, Chioma catches Chloe up about attending Buckingham Palace’s first garden party celebrating creative industries. Chioma showed up to the function in a new-season Duro Oluwu day dress and blazer, but skipped out on wearing the hat specifically required by the dress code. (Her Chanel shoes made up for it!) Chioma also had the chance to attend the Gucci show at London’s Tate Modern, marking Sabato De Sarno’s first Cruise collection since taking the helm of the house. There, she ran into Solange, who updated Chioma on life in upstate New York. Good times!
