In The Prince George Ballroom, Peter Copping presented his Fall 2016 collection for Oscar de la Renta. Though only Copping s third Fashion Week showing for the house, it s evident he has the codes of OdlR down pat—skirt suits to gowns. Here, 8 highlights while you wait for Nicole Phelps s review.
- The show opened with a crimson lace turtleneck worn under a white skirt suit. With the jacket on, it was positively demure. Without, well, that s another story.
- Last season s ribbon motif continued on a raspberry pink gown with ties on the shoulders worn by Lineisy Montero.
- Stiletto heels came with gold and silver mirrored soles to insure that an OdlR client looks as good going as she does coming.
- The metallics continued into the collection, which included, among other sparkling items, a vibrant gold pantsuit, a silvery cocktail dress, and a gold foil trimmed gown.
- Red leather at Oscar? Believe it. Copping sent out a boned leather sheath that could really get a girl s pulse going.
- A number of looks featured fur collars tied on, even more had necklaces with giant bows knotted behind the models necks.
- Finale gowns came in pale hues with full skirts, for the sort of heightened drama that Mr. De la Renta loved.
- Models wore their hair in loose chignons, their eyeliner drawn into elegant cat eyes.
