She might be wearing a floral print, but Peter Copping’s muse at Oscar de la Renta this season is no wallflower. From the lacy cocktail dresses to the breathtaking gowns, get the lowdown on Copping’s latest here.
1. Copping’s love of interiors is well documented. For Spring 2016, he opted for a curtained room set with shocking pink chairs.
2. Each chair was adorned with a carnation. According to lore, the bloom was a favorite flower of Oscar de la Renta himself.
3. The carnation motif continued on the runway, too, with several dresses appearing in variations on the floral print.
4. Copping’s research for the collection began at The Hispanic Society of America in Harlem, New York City. The Spanish influence came through in several ways, from the espadrilles paired with certain looks to the cropped cape worn by Maartje Verhoef.
5. Ava Gardner also played a role in inspiring the dark romance of the collection. We’d say her ethos is best felt in this slinky black number.
6. Vanessa Moody opened the show in a rose-hued dress and jacket, cinched at the waist with a black ribbon bow.
7. Models wore their hair in center-parted chignons. As for the beauty look, it focused on bold brows and matte crimson lips.
8. Let’s hope it’s a cold spring, at least for the sake of wearing this bright, bracelet-sleeved fur.
9. Is the return of the gauntlet nigh? Several ensembles featured shoulder-to-wrist accessories.
10. It wouldn’t be an Oscar de la Renta show without a ball gown. This season’s best was in a light lavender hue with black detailing.
