On Wednesday evening, another New York Fashion Week came to a close. To celebrate, Vogue’s sustainability editor Tonne Goodman and Parley for the Oceans’ founder and CEO Cyrill Gustch hosted a fête that included prominent names in the fashion and sustainability industries. The event was hosted in partnership with IMG’s president of fashion events and properties, Leslie Russo. As guests stepped into Spring Place restaurant, only a few rooms over from where many shows took place over the previous week, they were welcomed with glasses of Champagne and a low hum of excited chatter.
The sunset as cocktail hour ensued. As dusk transformed to night, guests were ushered into the dining room for the dinner portion of the evening. Two long tables boasted beautifully undone and elegant decor with flowers and votive candles set against natural tablecloths and black chairs. Every element rung true to the dinner’s No Waste moniker—from the meal to décor, everything was designed in a reusable, compostable, and digestible practice.
Before guests stuck forks into the crispy ochre and warm rosemary focaccia appetizers already perched on the table, Goodman addressed the room. She thanked guests for taking part in the evening, paying a compliment to all in attendance, “some of the best people are in this room,” Goodman remarked before introducing Gustch and conservation and environmental activist Captain Paul Watson— both eloquently spoke about the critical importance in keeping our oceans healthy.
Guests included Batsheva Hay, Ella Emhoff, Quannah Chasinghorse, Chloe Wise, Meadow Walker, Richie Shazaam, Jordan Barret, Hillary Teymour, and Angel Prost. Jessie Andrews snapped photos of the bunch on her digital camera as the two tables dined upon Sesame-crusted Seitan and Pansottii Genovesi. At the end of the evening, guests made plans for fashion week’s final evenings of parties, taking bites of bursting gooseberries covered in chocolate and yuzu-verbena-infused local fruit with raspberry sorbet. A sweet and punchy ending to New York Fashion week indeed.
