Hope you’re sitting down because Prada’s Fall 2016 womenswear collection is likely to floor you. Building off ideas explored in Prada Fall 2016 men’s show, Mrs. P. sent out a varied collection of brocades, velvets, silks, furs, and even denim. The cinched waists and sailor hats gave a distinct ’50s spirit while the charm-laden jewelry and accessories hinted that the Prada woman this season was a world traveler. And what of the shoes, dresses, and models’ cherry-red lips? 1. Prada resurrected the wooden agora set from its Fall 2016 men’s show for its womenswear presentation this season.
2. Liu Wen and Alexa Chung sat front row.
3. Prada exclusive Lorena Maraschi opened the show in a corseted blazer with the diamond-pattern tights models wore during the Fall 2016 men’s show.
4. Longtime Prada models Stella Tennant, Sasha Pivovarova, Kinga Rajzak, and Marina Perez returned to the runway.
5. Illustrations created by Berlin-based artist Christophe Chemin for the Fall 2016 men’s collection carried over to today’s show as prints on shirts and dresses.
6. Nearly every look featured a cinched waist, whether by a half corset or a series of leather belts.
7. Prada took the charm idea started in its men’s collection to new heights today, securing books, skeleton keys, and metal flowers to chokers.
8. Several shoe options were shown on the catwalk including sky-high lace-up wedge boots, buckle pumps, and lug-soled boots.
9. Everyone’s favorite flame-haired model Rianne Van Rompaey closed the show with a new blonde dye job.
10. Models’ hair was slicked down into matted finger waves with loose curls by Guido Palau. Each girl also sported bright red lipstick chosen by Pat McGrath.
11. Frédéric Sanchez’s soundtrack included several Nico tracks, Karen Elson’s “Stolen Roses,” PJ Harvey’s “To Bring You My Love,” and a spoken-word version of Harvey’s poem “The Guest Room.”
