Three years ago today, a (fake) town crier blared a trumpet outside St. Mary’s Hospital, heralding the birth of The Royal Baby. Today that much-anticipated bundle, Prince George, is an utterly adorable 3-year-old boy. Time flies when you’re not-creepily—not at all—watching his every move from America!
As a glorious gift for fans, Princess Kate and Prince William have released a series of perfect, pastoral photos of the future king frolicking in the garden of Anmer Hall, the family s Norfolk home. Sadly, unlike a few past family portraits, they were not shot by Duchess-of-all trades Kate, but they are nevertheless delightful and heartwarming, a welcome palate cleanser from the bitter political convention season.
In my personal favorite, Prince George feeds his dog (and presumably his best friend) Lupo ice cream atop a tartan blanket in the garden.
In another, he undergoes an outfit change into a Cape Cod–chic whale-printed sweater.
Finally, Casual Prince George kicks back in a T-shirt and bare feet, playing on a swing emblazoned with his parents’ names. See, he doesn’t always wear kneesocks.
"The Duke and Duchess hope that people will enjoy seeing these new photographs. They would like to thank everyone for all the lovely messages they have received as Prince George celebrates his 3rd birthday," a Kensington Palace spokesman said.
