If there was an award for the most playful workwear wardrobe, Raissa Gerona, Revolve’s Chief Brand Officer, would receive the honor. After all, she gets to sift through both Revolve and Fwrd’s endless assortment of designer labels to plan what she’ll wear while working at their pool parties or on one of their biggest projects of the year: Revolve Festival, an annual celebration that showcases the retailer’s summer wardrobe assortment on influencers from around the world.
“Of course, I want to always know what’s on trend, and I always want to represent the brand,” Gerona tells Vogue. “At the same time, I’m older now. I have a kid. So I try to make each one of my outfits as personal to me as possible.” In her wardrobe you’ll find a harmonious balance of sultry, glam pieces with a splash of elevated comfort—all influences of her growing up in sunny Los Angeles. “I think that bringing the sexy is kind of in my DNA,” Gerona admits. “After all, we don’t have a proper winter here in LA.” There’s a subtle sense of Californian ease in the mix, too. “Even when I’m working in the office, I do try to find this balance of getting dressed up in a chill way.”
Since joining the Revolve team in 2014, Gerona has helped to put the retailer on the map with activations that grab the attention of new customers and keep the loyal fan-base coming back for more. Last winter, the retailer promoted its winter collections with a pop-up in Aspen—even Rihanna stopped by to shop. And last week, the label continued their partnership with Kendall Jenner to throw the ultimate cocktail party to kickoff festival season. “My job is to make sure that people know about the Revolve brand,” Gerona explains. “Whether it’s through the big events that we host around the world, collaborating with partners, or working all of our social media channels.”
No matter how big the events, partnerships, and launches become, Gerona stays true to her personal style. “I like to mix and match old and new, so that my looks feel special and personal—not just your typical outfit,” she explains.
Below, Gerona shares her process for planning her summer outfits, the impact of motherhood on her style, and her ultimate packing tip.
The WFH Heroes
When planning my outfits, I always want to be comfortable—literally and figuratively. Literally, so I can walk around (and dance!) all day (there are a lot of external meetings with the production company, PR agencies, the talent that we have to work with, and a ton of internal meetings, too) and figuratively so that I always feel like myself. I never want to take festival dressing too literally so I try to think of new, fun, and personal ways to dress up for the occasion. I’m also a big vintage girl so including vintage pieces in all my outfits, every year, is essential.
Casual Cool Touch
Getting ready for Revolve Festival is always fun and hectic, but this year was even more fun and a little more hectic, in the best way. My daughter, Dylan, who’s now 6 years old, is very aware of the big events for work, and also very into fashion. She was vocal on what outfits I should wear and what to pack—she had a lot to say. She also couldn’t resist trying on dresses and all the shoes while I packed!
Ready to Work and Werk
Kicking off the weekend’s festivities with a Fwrd party hosted by our creative director, Kendall Jenner. Thursday night always sets the tone for the rest of the weekend so it was great to see everyone in a very festive mood!
Poolside Professional
When traveling, my advice is to always pack a few extra looks. I bought an entirely different look for the pool party, but that morning I just wasn’t feeling it. And I’m so glad that I had something else that felt right for the moment.
Every year we do a pool party on Friday and this year was really fun and special because it was at the Parker Hotel, an iconic hotel in Palm Springs, so I knew we wouldn’t have to deal with the desert dust. That meant I had the option to wear an open-toe shoe, which I took full advantage of. Everyone was staying at the hotel so people were relaxed, swimming, and having a great time.
Festive Feathers
For the festival this year, I wanted to look ahead at items that will be available in our summer and pre-fall collections that are on preorder. I know that’s a special privilege, but that s how I pulled this playful feather top from David Koma.
Revolve Festival is our biggest event of the year, so seeing everything and everyone come together is just the best. Between the incredible venue, the artist line up, the beautiful creative, and all the amazing outfits, this was my favorite one to date.
