It’s been quite an exciting week for Sabrina Carpenter. On Friday, the pop star released her latest album, Short n’ Sweet, which is filled with plenty of summer bops (Espresso! Please Please Please!); The singer also released a new music video for Taste, co-starring Jenna Ortega (do yourself and watch the deliciously-freaky video), and performed on Jimmy Fallon. To celebrate all of the achievements, the star was spotted heading out to dinner on Saturday night—and she donned one of her style signatures, a fitted corset, for the occasion.
Whether she’s performing for fans or hanging out with her friends while off-duty, a retro-style corset has fast become one of Carpenter’s go-to wardrobe pieces. This weekend, Carpenter slipped into her latest styles—a sweet, lace and gingham-adorned navy corset, which she gave a more casual slant by pairing it with a pair of cropped leggings and kitten heel mules. (Accompanying her, meanwhile, was a giant bouquet of flowers, presumably given to her by one of her fans.)
We love her more dressed-down approach to styling a skintight corset, a piece that could easily veer more evening when paired with a skirt or black dress pants. While performing at the Outside Lands Festival a few weeks ago, she gave a black sequined corset bodysuit a stage-ready feel—but there’s something to her casual weekend approach that makes it feel especially fresh. Sure, there’s nothing casual about lacing yourself up into a fitted top, but the rest of your outfit doesn’t have to be equally as restricting. What’s next? Athleisure with it? If anyone could pull off sneakers and jeans with a corset, it would be Carpenter.
