It’s been a minute since Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco held their regular date nights in their home city of Los Angeles. Of recent, the engaged-to-be-married couple have been spending most of their time in New York, where Gomez was filming the fifth season of Only Murders in the Building. They’ve also both been out on their own various projects, in the studio, podcasting, and more—because summer doesn’t stop the Gomez-Blanco grind. A date night at a familiar, friend-approved spot was more than necessary.
Yesterday evening (July 8), Gomez and Blanco stepped out for dinner at Los Angeles strip mall sushi joint Sushi Park. Keeping things low-key, the couple stuck to their own sartorial codes. Gomez was photographed in a black, oversized belted trench coat and black ballerina pumps. While she recently showed off a wolfy haircut and bangs, Gomez instead wore her hair long and straight in a definitive middle part. It was a simple, elegant look to be expected from the Rare Beauty mogul, who has refined her own ladylike yet laidback aesthetic.
Blanco, on the other hand, opted for a sky blue polo shirt, brown loafers (sans socks), and cream colored chino pants. All in keeping with his own relaxed, light-sleaze with a hint of prep style.
The strip mall walkway and parking lot of Sushi Park are always a bit of a celebrity spectacle, with everyone from Hailey Bieber to Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and Taylor Swift (avec Selena herself) dressing both up and down for omakase or a la carte crab rolls. One day it’s Kylie in a latex KHY number, the next it’s sister Kendall in a casual denim summer fit, or Bieber in some form of tailoring-tank-top-flip-flop combo
Gomez has been booked and busy this summer too—launching new Rare Beauty products as well as a fresh set of bangs and an Oreo collab. A sweet treat-forward, chopped and coiffed multi-hyphenate if there ever was one. Blanco also just scooped up a win at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for Favorite Viral Song for “Bluest Flame,” on which Gomez provides vocals. Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco stay winning, and deserve last night’s California rolls.
