It’s been a pretty good August for Simone Biles. If you’re not familiar with the Olympian or her jaw-dropping skills, Biles is not yet 20, stands only 4-foot-9 (in size 5 shoes), and is by most measures the best American gymnast in history. But now she really has it all: the adoration of Zac Efron.
Like any pairing worth its salt, Biles and Efron have a pretty cute origin story: This past March, the gymnast appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in which DeGeneres announced her guest’s celebrity crush on TV and handed her a Zac Efron leotard. As it turns out, that’s not the only Efron paraphernalia Biles has. In 2014, Biles tweeted out her Christmas present: a life-size cutout of Zac Efron. (She even revealed that she would kiss him on the cheek.)
But Biles has had her share of real-life dealings with the Neighbors star as well. In July, Efron tweeted his support for Biles ahead of the Rio Olympics trials.

With Rio underway and Biles sweeping nearly every event thus far, their romance has reached new heights. Last Wednesday, Efron tweeted out his support for “the #FinalFive” with a hand heart shape we’re pretty sure was meant for just Biles.
And then, like any good rom-com, it finally happened: Last night, Zac Efron flew to Rio to meet Simone Biles—and even gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Their story just blew my mind,’” Efron later told Hoda Kotb and Matt Lauer. “When I found out Simone and this team were fans, I was like, ‘What kind of guy am I if I don’t show up?’” Four gold medals ain’t got nothing on this love story.
