While the sooty eyes and graphic swooshes on runways like Tom Ford, Sonia Rykiel, and Saint Laurent signaled that rock ’n’ roll is anything but dead, there’s a softer take on statement eyes popping up on the red carpet. Spotted at an Estée Lauder party in New York last night, model Arizona Muse offered a delicate take on the cat eye with powdery wraparound shadow that tapered into smoky oblivion. Also in town was Kristen Stewart, whose light-catching wash of silver-flecked shadow gave a feminine nod to punk that felt just right with her side-swept boyish crop at the Camp X-Ray premiere. For the launch of her new show, The Affair, Diane Kruger went for classic blended taupe lash lines that offered plenty of smolder without the hard-edged feel of a traditional black pencil.
