Sandal season is arriving, and with it comes an avalanche of new nail options. Making things very easy, Peter Philips, Chanel’s creative director of makeup, has created specific polish shades to be worn in April, in May, and in June—or really “whenever you want,” he says. April, the darkest of the three shades, is a creamy berry, which Philips describes as the perfect bridge between winter and spring. May, a girly, bubblegum pink, resembles a spring cherry blossom; and June—pale, creamsicle orange—evokes sunny, almost-summer days. “It’s a nice color statement before the high-summer nail fun,” says Philips. He suggests painting the darker shade on toes and saving the lighter shades for fingers. “I actually like a dark pedicure for spring,” he says. “It looks great with open-toe shoes or for a barefoot walk on the beach.”
