Trust, loyalty, courteousness—the guiding principles of Scout’s Law haven’t changed much since boys started pledging back at the turn of the century, and neither has the uniform (fun fact: Oscar de la Renta gave the distinctive military-inspired garb a mini makeover back in the eighties). Photographed by Bruce Weber for Vogue in 1996, model Stella Tennant wore her fringed jacket sans badges, although given the current trend for patchwork the colorful council stripes and jamboree emblems would be right in line with the look of now.
