The Sleek Sandal Trend That’s Taken the Runways (And Our Shopping Carts!) by Storm

It’s not uncommon for Vogue editors to become completely transfixed by a fresh-off-the-runway shoe trend. This summer, we’re loving slim, retro sneakers à la Dries Van Noten and Loewe and cool-girl clogs courtesy of Chloé and Miu Miu, but many of last summer’s trends are still going strong as well.

Among them are seriously sleek pairs of strappy heeled sandals. Last year we saw them on runways at Khaite, Ferragamo, and Jil Sander, and their popularity continues to reign. For spring/summer 2025, strappy sandals walked the runways (once more) at Proenza Schouler and Toteme, and have proliferated popular shopping destinations like Reformation and Zara. With an understated, ’90s-inspired feel, this shoe style is a true warm-weather wardrobe essential, effortlessly paired with everything from great white dresses and cotton poplin skirts to the best jeans and even cargo pants.
