The return of the miniskirt in 2023 may be attributed to Miu Miu, but it was the British fashion designer Mary Quant who pioneered the ultrashort hemline in the 1960s as a symbol of the newly liberated woman. Quant, who was known as the Mother of the Miniskirt, passed away this week at age 93, but her influence will live on forever.
