The last full moon of 2025 brings the year to a close with a bang. (Or at least a beautiful view.) It is part of an exceptional series of supermoon—three, so far—that have occurred over the past three months, with a fourth due in January 2026.
During a supermoon, the moon is closest to the Earth in its orbit, which not only makes it appear larger and brighter in the sky, but also increases its power of attraction in astrological terms—and with it, emotions and feelings. This explains the upside-down energies of recent months. As a bonus, the supermoon on December 5 2025 will be at an exceptional height—the highest since December 2006. We’ll have to wait until 2042 to experience such an extreme phenomenon again.
Astrologer Bérénice Delignat sheds light on how this intense astrological event will affect you, as well the star signs it’ll impact the most.
What’s special about this supermoon?
“This last full moon of 2025 rises in the sign of Gemini as a moment of inner truth, a space where everything that has been mentally cluttering us up for months finally comes up to be understood, sorted out, clarified, left behind,” says Delignat. “Because this lunation doesn’t just light up a sky: it brings to a close a whole year of inner work, a year marked by profound realisations, successive karmic liberations, and sometimes disturbing—but necessary—revelations. A year in which, individually and collectively, we’ve had to learn to face up to our contradictions, listen to our intuitions, recognize our illusions, and shed what was clouding our perceptions.”
“It’s no coincidence that this full moon is positioned exactly at the square of the Pisces-Virgo nodal axis,” says Delignat. In layman’s terms? This basically means this is a good time to let go, and stop thinking so much. “[It’s] the axis that carries the entire 2025 life path, the axis that asks us to let go of the mental over-analysis of Virgo to rediscover the faith, trust and fluidity of Pisces. And which, in an exact square, acts as a final initiatory passage, a non-negotiable tipping point, a moment when life clearly tells us, ‘You can’t enter 2026 with the same thoughts, the same stories, the same fears that accompanied you this year.’”
“This full moon in Gemini is therefore not just a lunar event, it’s a space for mental purification, a deep sorting out of everything we’ve accumulated internally, a moment when the Sun in Sagittarius sheds light on what needs to be aligned with our vision, with our expansion, with the natural movement of our soul,” adds Delignat.
She believes that now is the time to go with the flow, rather than hold onto old, rigid beliefs. “The moon in Gemini brings to light the inner noise, the looping thoughts, the automatic scenarios, the words we haven’t dared to say, the truths we’ve pushed aside because they demanded clarity and courage. This lunation shows that the mental loop is not a sign of intelligence but a sign of clutter, that sometimes thinking more doesn’t mean understanding more, and that there comes a time when the only way forward is to stop circling around the same point and choose a direction, as Sagittarius demands.”
Which astrological signs will be most impacted by the supermoon?
“This lunation particularly activates Gemini and Sagittarius because they make up the very axis of this full moon, the axis of thought and truth, but it activates Pisces and Virgo just as much, because it touches the life path of the year 2025 at an exact angle that acts as an obligatory passage, a final lesson to be integrated before the energy cycle changes,” says Delignat. “Gemini is faced with clarity, Sagittarius with coherence, Virgo with the need to stop analyzing everything, and Pisces with the need to trust.”
But it’s not just the above star signs who need to pay attention. “For all signs, it’s also interesting to observe where the 13th of Gemini falls in your natal chart, because it’s in this house that mental liberation will occur, truth will be revealed, you’ll understand what you need to leave behind, and the first inner movement that will take you towards 2026 will open up. The house that hosts this degree is the zone where one cycle ends, another begins, where the mind purifies to make way for a larger, more conscious, more aligned vision.”
What rituals should we do to take full advantage of the supermoon?
“To work with this full moon, I suggest a ritual of great mental sorting,” says Delignat. “Create a space where your mind can settle, a clear, calm, unstimulated space, with soft light and a calming presence, and start by writing down, without looking for beautiful phrases, what you keep over-analyzing out of fear of taking action, what you keep mentally repeating when you know it belongs to an old version of you, what you keep telling yourself to avoid forward movement.”
“Then, read these words aloud, because under a full moon in Gemini, speech is a liberating act, unburdening the mind, rebalancing the nervous system, putting thoughts back in their rightful place. Then, on a second sheet of paper, write three sentences starting with ‘In 2026, I choose to…’ Not from what your mind thinks is reasonable, but from what resonates in your body when you imagine a more coherent, lively, aligned direction.”
Place your hand on your throat, then on your solar plexus, breathe deeply, and repeat inwardly that you’re releasing the old and opening the way, and if you feel it’s right, destroy the first leaf to symbolize the definitive closing of the 2025 mental cycle.”
