Soon, we’ll finally get to see Sydney Sweeney in her forthcoming boxer biopic Christy, where she stars as the trailblazing female boxer Christy. Sweeney underwent a huge transformation for the role, training long hours and eating a hell of a lot of protein to embody the athlete.
On her press tour, styled by Molly Dickson, Sweeney has been deepening the super feminine aesthetic, as if in contrast to what we’ll see on screen—some anti-method dressing, if you will. Last night, at the 2025 Variety Power of Women event at the Beverly Hills Hotel, she continued that sartorial setting.
With a nod to another enduring celebrity red carpet trend known as ‘naked dressing,’ Sweeney wore a silvery, sheer Christian Cowan x Elias Matso gown from the Christian Cowan spring 2026 collection (an unapologetically fierce, skin-baring selection of designs), paired with EFFY jewelry. The crystal-studded gown features a delicate scoopneck and super sheer, figure-hugging bodice, bell sleeves, and a twisted waist, with a corset-like tie-up situation running all the way down the back. The architectural, almost historical-leaning nipped-in waist and twisting details are a calling card of New York designer Elias Matso. Sparkly-sensual in the front, and sexed-up in the back.
While the penultimate look from the Christian Cowan show at New York Fashion Week was styled with a black bandana and deep, smoky eye makeup (think Ibiza-meets-Lower East Side club kid), Sweeney stayed committed to her own super blonde, bombshell vibe.
Sweeney wore her freshly cut blonde bob blown straight and in a side part, and glowy, classic makeup with a flick of black eyeliner and a nude lip.
Other attendees at the glamorous event celebrating women in the industry included Jamie Lee-Curtis, Sharon Stone, Kate Hudson, Brenda Song, Jane Fonda, and Julianne Hough.
Across several recent film festival appearances and turns on red carpets, the on-the-right-side-of-frou-frou style text of Sydney Sweeney has played out, from a pink textured ballgown to a vintage, figure skater-esque Mugler two-piece, and Business Barbie-y fits.
Appearing earlier this month at the BFI London Film Festival, she turned to Seán McGirr to fashion her a custom McQueen gown that played with her penchant for a princessy silhouette to edge her style into a new direction. Wearing a ballet pink embroidered lace gown with a ruffled hem, full-coverage silk satin corseted bodice, and a gathered bust, the two-in-one dress combined McGirr’s gothic bent with Sweeney’s fondness for corsetry, enjoying their shared love for romance and drama. According to Dickson, the pink shade was also a subtle nod to the real-life Christy, whose signature ring attire was famously pink.
With the next season of Euphoria being filmed right this minute, it’ll be interesting to see how Sydney Sweeney adapts her style next.
