Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have noticed–even if entirely against your will–that Taylor Swift has been not-so-subtly stepping into her showgirl era. Whether sporting a sparkly mini on The Tonight Show or channeling Elizabeth Taylor in the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” she’s embraced method dressing for the rollout of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. But amidst all the sequin-encrusted swimming caps and skimpy Bob Mackie custom looks, the millennial autumn wardrobe is creeping back into Swift’s repertoire. Hey, you can take the girl out of Folklore, but you can’t take the Folklore out of the girl.

Swift just stepped out in New York in a look that was peak “All Too Well (10-Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)”: a pleated Miu Miu miniskirt and knee-high boots by Jennifer Chamandi. It’s the Gilmore-Girls-meets-Gossip Girl combo we’ve always associated with the songstress, who seems keen on a touch of tartan, whatever the season.

This was just the latest in a long line of school uniform-adjacent looks we’ve seen from Swift, and included a petite Christian Dior top-handle handbag–and her now signature Cartier watch–as a feminine finishing touch.
