The A$AP Rocky Guide to Acing Your Vogue Internship

A$AP Rocky is a man of many accomplishments: Grammy-nominated musician, fashion designer, and actor among them. But how does he fare as a Vogue intern?

After an—ahem—rocky start on his first day, Rocky admits, “For a while, I thought this job was gonna get the better of me.” But after our esteemed colleague gets some advice from Anna Wintour herself (“Dig a bit deeper, Rocky.”), he’s changing his tune. “I got this,” he says.

So what does digging deeper look like for A$AP Rocky? “I mean for me?” he says. “It’s just a couple simple rules that I follow for my day-to-day to be an extraordinary director, musician, fashionista, extraordinary, pretty, handsome motherfu—” well, you get the rest.

Behold, A$AP Rocky’s five simple rules to becoming the #1 Vogue intern.

1. Stay Organized

In his abundance of free time, Rocky has mastered the spreadsheet. If you can simplify a messy Excel sheet, cold coffee is more than forgiven. Lateness, however? We’re not so sure.

2. Connect With Your Coworkers

Consider having a weekly tea time with your colleagues. Take a cue from Rocky, who asks his new coworker Lea, “So how’s your grandma Edna doing?” Hot tip: Keep in mind that not all grandmas are named Edna.

3. Get Inspired

Sometimes, inspiration can strike close to home. “Exhibit A$AP,” Rocky declares, displaying a photo of himself at the Chanel Métiers d’art show on the screen. “This guy right here’s a prime example of fashion.” Our talent bookers and visuals editors seem to agree. “Genius,” declares global talent casting director Ignacio Murillo.

4. Attention to Detail

When the fashion team agonizes over two pairs of shoes, Rocky is quick to offer a decisive take. His keen eye is appreciated by the editors and a very special guest.

5. No Job Is Ever Too Small To Be Done With Care

Food always tastes better when it’s prepared with love—even if that means organizing pre-packaged snacks at craft services. In Rocky’s case, his dedication catches the attention of a photographer on set. Sure, the model walked off, but Rocky is a proven star.
