There have been countless fashion and beauty odes written to twin sisters, former actors, and The Row designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen over the years. Hell, hundreds of them have sprung forth from the fingers of Vogue.com writers ourselves. The latest look the duo has inspired? A hybrid beauty-and-fashion moment TikTok has declaratively named “The Olsen Tuck” in honor of the twins, who have been papped many a time doing the trend.

The Olsen Tuck is an easy solution to the age-old question of “Where do I put all of my hair when I m wearing something with a big collar?”—tucked into it, of course. Whether you’re stepping out in a chunky cable knit sweater, fluffy shearling coat, or an overly fuzzy thick Loewe scarf, this is the ultimate hair solution. Even the Met Gala is an Olsen Tuck occasion—Ashley wore her blonde hair gathered beneath her lime-green collar as part of her Rei Kawakubo–inspired ensemble.

“The Olsens’ whole thing for both fashion and beauty is being effortless,” my coworker and Olsen fan Christian Allaire tells me when I question him over our desk divider. “The hair tuck is something that Celine—the old Celine, é-with-the-accent-mark Celine—was doing in the 2010s, and that’s very reminiscent of their entire vibe.”

Speaking of Celine, the Olsen Tuck is a style that Phoebe Philo, creative director of Celine from 2008 to 2017, is known for both in her own life and when styling models. Perhaps you could argue that the trend should be called the Philo Tuck—but alas, TikTok associated the look with the style icons of their generation.

“It s nonchalant but sexy,” hairstylist Guido Palau tells me of the style backstage at Khaite. For the brand’s fall 2025 show, a handful of models walked the circular runway with their hair tucked into fur, knit, and wool collars all designed by Manhattan cool girl Catherine Holstein. The look was also spotted at Calvin Klein, Altuzarra, and in Phil Oh’s street-style snaps around New York City.

Olsen Tuck, Philo Tuck, Khaite Tuck, or whatever else you want to call it—this is how we’ll be wearing our hair this fall.
